Using a real-time tracking system, the installation captures the faces present within its field and links them through dynamic graphical structures projected on screen. Individuals appear less as subjects than as momentary instances within a computed network.
The visible connections do not represent pre-existing relationships. They result from an algorithmic operation that transforms co-presence, gaze direction, and proximity into relational structures. The device thus produces a form of simulated sociability. What seems to reveal a social bond is only the visualization of an instantaneous correlation.
By choosing to look at the installation, the viewer activates their own integration into the system. Their image becomes data, then a node within an unstable collective structure. Looking here implies accepting being captured. Human Likes sets two contradictory regimes in tension: the fascination produced by the real-time visualization of interactions, and the unease linked to their reduction into computable structures.
À partir d’un dispositif de suivi en temps réel, l’installation capture les visages présents dans son champ et les relie par des structures graphiques dynamiques projetées à l’écran. Les individus y apparaissent moins comme des sujets que comme des instances momentanées d’un réseau calculé.
Les connexions visibles ne représentent pas des relations préexistantes, elles résultent d’une opération algorithmique qui transforme la co-présence, l’orientation du regard et la proximité en structures relationnelles. Le dispositif produit ainsi une forme de sociabilité simulée. Ce qui semble révéler un lien social n’est que la visualisation d’une corrélation instantanée.
En choisissant de regarder l’installation, le spectateur active sa propre intégration au système. Son image devient donnée, puis nœud au sein d’une structure collective instable. Regarder implique ici accepter d’être capturé. Human Likes met en tension deux régimes contradictoires : la fascination produite par la visualisation en temps réel des interactions, et le trouble lié à leur réduction en structures calculables.
